Who am I?

Hello! I'm Charlotte Tina.
Nice that you are interested in my project and want to travel with me. Please let me know what is particularly interesting for you – I will try to address it. My focus in the blog is on food, beautiful views/landscapes and practical, very concrete information. I am currently 54 years old and have traveled to many European countries and also part of Morocco, Turkey, Thailand and Zimbabwe. Three years ago, quite spontaneously, I went to Copenhagen on my own by train and bike and from there I cycled back to Berlin, which was great. I was surprised myself. Since then, the idea of a trip around the world germinated.
In the spring of 2021 I flew alone to Mallorca for a week, was traveling in a rental car, took the ferry to Barcelona (and this is where my terrible fear of flying comes into play) very quickly, rented a bike there, and after three days I was on my bike Gondola by train to Marseille, took another car and drove via Grenoble and Belfort to Strasbourg, from there I took the train home. That was pretty exciting in the best possible way. I really liked the freedom of being able to decide on every corner according to my feelings and mood.
My professional background: I am an events manager and worked for a few years as a technical event manager for Messe Berlin (great job, great colleagues, but after four temporary contracts I didn't want to anymore), in a large agency as a senior project manager for congresses (exploiting agency , but I learned a lot and organized nice, international congresses as well) and most recently with an association as an event department (the "department", that was me, myself and I, and before it could become more, as actually thought, there were personnel changes and with them the popular operational leave in between). And here I was, an almost perfect time for a sabbatical if it weren't for that pesky mutating virus thing 🙄 Add to that war and a worryingly unstable world and economy.
So I made a virtue out of necessity, bought my first car, set it up and drove around Europe with it for four months.
Before all that, I, as a typical Berliner, did all sorts of things: I studied various subjects – medieval studies, English studies, medieval history – and did not finish.
I was successfully self-employed with a catering company for about half a year. It should be mentioned that the only reason it failed was the financing, not my cooking or organizing skills!

I got a lot of fun driver's licenses - driver's license for industrial forklifts of all types, car, motorcycle, catamaran, sports coaster license, and more on the water, the fishing license A, I was a projectionist in cinemas, did software training there, introduced computer cash registers and consequently got rid of cinema tickets in Berlin from the tear-off roll, worked in a PR agency for eight months, rstored an 8.30m ship (and ruined my back in the process) and much more.
I cycle almost all routes and for me that is the best of all modes of transportation, I like to go swimming often (even when it's really cold), I love trying out new things and learning, and I generally have a great need for Go out and cook and eat well. Picnicking is one of my favorite activities. I love picking mushrooms, I must have been a truffle dog in a previous life. I rarely drink alcohol, but I do appreciate a glass of fine wine. Food inspires me in theory and practice, I'm always happy about something new for me (it doesn't have to be monkey brains though).
I like cities on big rivers/sea and untouched nature. I like seasons. I have a soft spot for funny animals. I like classical music, rock and pop. I've read a great deal (mostly fiction) and counting. I'm spontaneous and flexible. And I'm really, really scared of flying; that's a challenge for a world trip, so a plus for the road trip, which I did once because of the circumstances as they were.
After a few goodbyes in recent years and increasing physical malaise, it was time for a turning point.
I'm excited to see what will happen professionally over time. I don't have to stick to events, my interests and knowledge are wide-ranging...
